3 - Anne Laprevote Square

Formerly, there was a pond in the middle of the square, where villagers would bring their animals to drink. At the highest point of the square (the south side) stood a wayside cross. Both the pond and the cross were removed in 1854.

On the lowest and widest part of the square was a livestock market. It was also the meeting place for the messengers' weekly rounds. On July 14th, Bastille Day was celebrated there.

First called "Village Square," then "Post Office Square" in 1915, the square received its current name in 1926 in recognition of Anne Laprévote, a woman from Dijon, who, upon her death, bequeathed her land in Chenôve to the Bureau of Public Assistance. In the 2000s, the municipality redeveloped the Place, adding a pond, trees and flowerbeds.
